The new European Directive regarding “The Evaluation and Control of Environmental Noise” (2002/49/CE) reveal the necessity to publicise the existing acoustic situation in the different cities and confirm that calculated noise maps are a method of evaluating and updating the noise maps of the different zones.

A system of prediction and generation of Dynamic Maps has been instigated, based on prediction software and  developed by Proceso Digital de Audio which allows the modelization of the zones in which by means of the introduction there are distinct types of sources

  • Specific sources for specific situations

  • Lineal source for modeling traffic situations.

  • Sources which are radiant planes for modelling the noise activities existent in the city

By means of this modelization we can obtain maps of the noise existing in the city.

All the noise sources which contribute to the urban environmental sound may be modelled by means of the classifications previously mentioned and, thus, they can be characterised according to the values of power, directivity, traffic density, etc.

The system created is dynamic which means that it has the capacity to update the power of the sources at a fixed moment existent in the city. For the updating of the emission powers, the data provided by the information system is used which is located around the city and which, as well as carrying out the measurements of the noise existing en each zone, has the tools necessary for its diffusion to the public.

How it is constructed

For starting up the system we proceed to:

  • · The study of the sources of noise existing in Miranda de Duero.
  • · The characterisation of the above.
  • · The creation of the prediction model using Trasgunet calculation software.
  • · Its validation by means of field measurements.

Data obtained

With the system implanted we obtain the distribution maps of noise levels in existence in the area of a city and their diffusion and thus we obtain:

1- On this page the noise map can be requested for any day of the year. Given that the data stored occupies much space in the server, this service generates the maps at the time of execution and sends them to an e-mail address

2- Noise maps of the previous day presented in the three time periods defined by the EU Directive: morning, afternoon and night.
